In the hills of western North Carolina, professional woodworker Greg Paolini designs and builds one-of-a-kind commissioned furniture and exquisite custom kitchens. In his spare time, he has developed tools to make woodworking faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Several years ago, Paolini approached us with his idea for the ideal woodworker's pocket rule, and the Paolini Pocket Rules have since become a beloved OneTIME Tool offering.

The Paolini Pocket Rules feature a simple yet ingenious design that sets them apart from all other pocket rules. The most unique feature is the sliding stop that can be locked in place along the length of the blade, allowing for repetitive measurements on multiple boards. There's also a fine notch at the end of the rule, which can be used as an instant marking gauge when paired with a pencil.

When you need to measure vertically, you can simply remove the stop from the end of the rule and insert it into the cut-out on the blade, transforming the rule into a perfect stand to keep it upright while you use both hands to dial in the height of a router bit, saw blade, or dado stack.

The Paolini Pocket Rules are available in two material choices – anodized aluminum or stainless steel – and three calibration options: inch-only, metric-only, or a combination of inch and metric. The inch models feature 1/16" and 1/32" scales on both sides, making it easy to switch between the two resolutions, especially in less-than-ideal shop lighting or if your eyesight isn't what it used to be. The metric models offer 1mm scales on both sides.

Paolini Pocket Rules come in three different lengths: 6", 8", and 12" (or 150mm, 200mm, and 300mm for the metric models). You can choose any rule individually or opt for a set of three, with or without the Rack-It accessory.

Like all Woodpeckers products, the Paolini Pocket Rules are precision-machined and carefully inspected at our factory in Strongsville, Ohio, just south of Cleveland. The bright white, laser-engraved scales on the anodized aluminum rules, as well as the clean, precise look of the stainless steel models, are a testament to the quality and craftsmanship that go into each and every Woodpeckers tool.
