In addition to its use for checking machinery, the SERX also serves as a top-quality layout tool. The graduated edge is beveled at 30° to get the markings right down next to the material being worked on. Woodpeckers has also laser-engraved a bright white bar along the bottom edge to highlight low spots, with the engraving held to a tolerance of ±.004" total accumulated error over the full length of the scale.

Like all Woodpeckers products, the SERX Straight Edge Rules are precisely machined and carefully inspected right at the company's facility in Strongsville, Ohio, just south of Cleveland.
