Shop / woodpeckers 1281 precision square
Woodpeckers was established in 1988, with a focus on woodworking tools. Starting with a few routers, the company has grown into a full-fledged manufacturer of router lifts, router fences, measuring & layout tools, and many useful clamping accessories. Woodpeckers takes pride in the fact that their tools are made in the U.S.A., as they do their own machining, engraving, assembly, and packing.
In the hills of western North Carolina, professional woodworker Greg Paolini builds one-of-a-kind commissioned furniture and exquisite custom kitchens. In his spare time, he designs tools to make woodworking faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Several years ago, Paolini contacted Woodpeckers with what he considered the ideal woodworker's pocket rule, and the Paolini Pocket Rules have been a favorite OneTIME Tool ever since.
The Paolini Pocket Rules feature a simple add-on fixture and thoughtful calibration layout, making them the perfect fit for your apron pocket. The most unique feature is the stop that slides up and down the length of the blade, allowing you to lock it in for repetitive measurements on multiple boards. There's also a fine notch in the end of the rule, which can be used as an instant marking gauge.
When you need vertical measurement, you can slide the stop off the end and insert it into the cut-out on the blade, creating a perfect stand to keep the rule upright while you use both hands to dial in the height of a router bit, saw blade, or dado stack, matching it to the easy-to-read scale engraved on the end of the rule.
The inch model has 1/16" and 1/32" scales on both sides, lined up so that you can easily switch between the finer and coarser scales. The same applies to the end scale, where you can flip the rule over to look at finer or coarser graduations, a welcome feature for those with less-than-perfect shop lighting or eyesight. If you prefer metric, Woodpeckers offers the same rules with 1mm scales on both sides, and they also offer a combo calibration with 1/16" and 1mm scales on one side and 1/32" and 1mm on the other.
Woodpeckers Paolini Pocket Rules are available in two material choices: bright white laser-engraved scales on a "Woodpecker Red" anodized aluminum surface, or a thinner stainless steel version. Both are milled to a precise 1-inch width, with the anodized aluminum rule being 1/8" thick and the stainless steel model being 1/16" thick.
Paolini Pocket Rules come in three different lengths: 6", 8", or 12" (metric-only models are 150mm, 200mm, and 300mm). Customers can choose any Paolini Pocket Rule by itself or as a set of three (same material, same calibration option). The sets are available with or without the Rack-It.
Like all Woodpeckers products, the Paolini Pocket Rules are precisely machined and carefully inspected in the company's Strongsville, Ohio factory, just south of Cleveland.
