In contrast, the right-to-left measuring scale is useful when a measurement needs to start from the right side, such as when setting up a table saw and measuring from the rip fence to the blade's edge.

For woodworkers who often need to find the center of a board, whether for hardware mounting or joinery, the HexScale Rule's centering scale simplifies the process. By aligning the same measurement on both edges of the material, the zero point will indicate the exact center, allowing the user to either mark the center or lay out points equidistant from the center.
