Woodpeckers, a brand established in 1988, has always focused on woodworking tools. Starting with a few routers, the company has grown into a full-fledged manufacturer of router lifts, router fences, measuring and layout tools, and various clamping accessories. The Woodpeckers Hook Rule is a versatile shop tool that helps users accurately reference the edge of their work. The rule features a hook, which allows the user to bring it against the edge of a board and instantly register the zero point. This feature is beneficial even if the edge has been rounded over or chamfered (profile less than 1/4" deep).

The engraving on the Hook Rule has been designed to make it the most versatile rule in the shop. One side of the scale reads from left-to-right, with the hook, while the other side reads from right-to-left, from the square end. This allows users to measure from either an inside corner or an edge, simply by flipping the rule over. Both sides of the rule feature one scale in sixteenths and another in thirty-seconds, as well as 1mm increments for metric measurements.

The right-to-left scale on the Hook Rule is particularly useful for setting up a table saw, as the user can place the end against the fence and align the desired measurement to the saw blade. Additionally, the end of the hook is engraved, making it easy to check or set the height of saw blades, router bits, and the drill press.

The Woodpeckers Hook Rules are designed to be durable and accurate, with a thickness of only 1/32" to eliminate parallax viewing error. They are made from hardened stainless spring steel and finished with a special process that produces a non-glare satin surface. The laser-engraved graduations have a total accumulated error of ±.004".

Woodpeckers offers the Hook Rules in both inch and metric sizes, and each comes with a wall-mountable Rack-It storage system to keep the rules safe and within easy reach. Users can keep a 6" rule in their apron pocket, a 12" on their bench, and a 24" hanging by their table saw for their next cabinetry project.

Like all Woodpeckers products, the Hook Rules are proudly machined and carefully inspected in the company's Strongsville, OH facility, just south of Cleveland.
