Woodpeckers was established in 1988 with a focus on woodworking tools. The combination square, invented in 1878, has been copied countless times over the last 140+ years. However, Woodpeckers' product development team wanted to create something more than just a "me too" product. They built features into their in-DEXABLE Combination Squares that cannot be found in any other combination square, regardless of price. These features include laser-accurate scribing guides, positive indexing at every full inch, a sliding head support, and accurate, laser-engraved scales.

The in-DEXABLE system includes a Combination Square head, a Double Square head, a Protractor head, and a Centering head. The Combination Square head provides the two most important angles in woodworking - 90° and 45° - in a single, convenient tool. The Double Square head is more compact and convenient when dealing with non-mitered angles. The Protractor head can be adjusted to any angle between 0° and 90°, both right and left, and includes positive stops for standard angles.

The Centering head is designed to find the center of any round or square stock. By holding the blade at a 45° angle relative to the machined 90° surfaces, you can easily mark the two diagonals of a square to locate the center. For circles, simply hold the Centering head against the circle in two different spots and strike a line across the diameter to find the dead center.

Woodpeckers offers their in-DEXABLE system in a variety of sizes, including standard (6", 12", and 18"), XL (1" thick), and metric (150mm, 300mm, and 450mm). They also offer a "mini" size range (4", 6", and 8"). The heads are designed to fit only the corresponding size blades, ensuring a perfect fit and optimal performance.

The in-DEXABLE Combination Square XL, available in an 18-inch size, comes with a wall-mountable storage rack. The stainless steel rule features a sliding head support with an indexing system every 1 inch, allowing for accurate scribing. The laser-cut scribing guides and laser-engraved graduations ensure long-lasting precision.
